The Client

J20 is a British owned company providing activewear and custom made sportswear for schools, clubs and universities. Samurai sportswear was born from a passion for great kits. When the owner, Terry Sands set about finding a kit for his Samurai International Rugby Sevens teams debut at the Amsterdam Sevens back in 1996, he could not find a kit that matched his expectations. So he designed the kit by himself and the Samurai Sportswear brand was born. J20 have been their distributor in the Middle East for over 6 years. J20 Sports Head Office is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Samurai Sportswear Head Office is based in Norfolk, United Kingdom.

NeoSolax was approached to provide maintenance and support to the official J20 sports website. NeoSolax through the initial audit identified that there is currently no proper deployment mechanism. The customer also recognized the need for migration as an opportunity to introduce some website optimization.

Overall, the following was identified as required to improve their site:

  • Add a new theme on fresh Magento 2 codebase to improve UI/UX and provide a
    great customer experience.
  • Migrate from Magento version 2.1 to Magento version 2.3 with new features and
    codebase upgrade for better security and better support for latest stack of Magento.
  • Setup proper deployment mechanism for the J20 instance including changing
    server setup.
  • Inventory update changes - changed Magento default inventory update as per client requirement linking all the features in the Magento system. This posed a big challenge to system stability with new inventory changes.

The following issues were faced and rectified when we commenced
work on the site:

  • Account Finance and Inventory Management system - QuickBooks was introduced and all compatibility issues fixed.
  • Changing Hosting Architecture with AWS - Increased speed and reduced server cost.
  • Using Smile Elasticsuite
  • Delay response and requirements - Restrict Add-to-Cart in some categories. Change product positioning in category page (Image sizes does not match with previous site product images)

The new features and functionality with enhanced system productivity ensured a smooth experience for customers that ultimately resulted in J20 sports providing a great brand experience and achieving their business goals.
